The Brygghuskören was formed in the fall of 1991 by
a group of students with a great interest in music that
missed having a student choir at the university. The name
comes from the building we rehearse in. “Brygghuset”
means wash house in Swedish and used to function as one
for the people living at the castle.
The choir welcomes all songbirds – those with much
experience as well as those with none at all. Our goal is
to have one big concert as well as several smaller performances
every semester. Themes for our past concerts have for instance
been The Beatles, ABBA, jazz and "swedish songs".
The concerts have improved us much as singers; individual
members of the choir are encouraged to take initiative and
time and space are set aside during the show to allow for
example smaller ensembles to perform. We aim at having similar
thematic concerts as a recurring feature on our program.
Usually we also take part in traditional performances such
as Lucia on December 13th and on Walpurgis Night on April
30th.
We
rehearse every Monday, between 6:30pm and 9pm, in “Brygghuset”!
A membership costs 60kr for the whole year, and 40kr for
one semester.
Welcome!
